What this is. Formulated for people eating low-carb or ketogenic, to support energy and the transition. It does not put you in ketosis; your diet does that.

The front of this bottle says the BHB amount is not stated, and that is the most important sentence on the label. The Supplement Facts panel lists three minerals — 146 mg of calcium, 1 mg of magnesium and 1 mg of sodium — some of that derived from BHB salts. It never says how much BHB is in the capsules. Neither will we.

What you are actually getting, per 2 capsules

  • Calcium (from calcium citrate and calcium BHB) — 146 mg
  • Magnesium (from magnesium BHB) — 1 mg
  • Sodium (from sodium BHB) — 1 mg

That is the whole panel. Three mineral lines, and no fourth line for beta-hydroxybutyrate. The calcium is split between two sources, calcium citrate and calcium BHB, and the panel does not say how the 146 mg divides between them — so even the calcium figure will not tell you how much BHB salt is in there.

We could work backwards from the magnesium and sodium figures using molecular weights and hand you an estimate. We are not going to. That would be our arithmetic resting on our assumptions, presented as if it were the maker's number, and this shop exists to do the opposite of that.

Worth knowing before you buy

Exogenous ketone research uses 10 g to 12 g of BHB in a single dose. That is the sort of amount used to raise blood ketones in a study, and it is nearly always a drink, because 10 g does not fit into two capsules. This panel states 146 mg of calcium, 1 mg of magnesium and 1 mg of sodium. Whatever the BHB weight in here is, it is not in the same conversation as 10 g, and the label does not state it.

So we are not going to tell you this puts you into ketosis, supports ketosis, or does anything at all to your blood ketone level. Nobody can judge that from this label, including us. Ketosis is a product of what you eat.

What the panel does support is the calcium: 146 mg is a modest but real amount of a mineral adults are generally advised to get around 1,000 mg of a day. The magnesium and sodium lines, at 1 mg each, are too small to count towards anything — if you want magnesium, buy magnesium.

What it is: a small calcium capsule that contains some BHB salt. What it is not: a dosed exogenous ketone product. Where it falls between those two we cannot tell you, because the maker has not said, and that is also why it is not in our weight-metabolism collection.

How to take it

Two capsules a day with water. Sixty capsules in the bottle at two a day, which is 30 days.

Other ingredients

The panel we have does not carry an other-ingredients line, so we cannot tell you what the capsule shell is made of. Gelatin shells are animal-derived and are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans; cellulose and HPMC shells are. We are not going to guess which this is — if it matters to you, read the physical bottle before you take it. No allergen is declared on the panel, which is not the same as there being none.

Cautions

BHB salts are salts, and the calcium, magnesium and sodium arrive with them — at the amounts stated here that is a minor consideration, but if you are on a sodium-restricted diet, or already taking a calcium supplement, count this in rather than ignoring it. Calcium reduces the absorption of several medicines, including levothyroxine and some antibiotics, so leave a few hours between them. If you take insulin or any other medicine that lowers blood glucose, speak to your doctor before changing your diet or your supplements. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use if the safety seal is damaged or missing. Store in a cool, dry place. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, taking prescription medication or living with a medical condition, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before starting this or any supplement.
