Raspberry Ketone
What this is. The aroma compound that makes raspberries smell like raspberries. It became a weight-loss product through television rather than through research — the note below explains what that means for the dose.
1,000 mg of raspberry ketone per two-capsule serving. One ingredient, nothing else, and the number on the front is the number in the capsules. The part you should read before you buy is the next section, because raspberry ketone has essentially no human evidence behind it.
What you are actually getting, per 2 capsules
- Raspberry Ketone (source not stated on the panel) — 1,000 mg
One line, one number, nothing to convert. It is not an extract, so there is no standardisation to show and no arithmetic to do. The panel does not say whether the ketone is taken from fruit or made synthetically. Nearly all raspberry ketone in supplements is synthesised, because extracting it from raspberries takes an impractical quantity of fruit, but ours does not state its source, so we will not state it either.
Worth knowing before you buy
This is the important paragraph, so here it is plainly. There is essentially no human research showing that raspberry ketone causes weight loss. The attention it got came from studies in rodents and in isolated cells. Those rodent studies fed the compound at roughly 1% to 2% of the animals' total diet by weight: scale that to an adult and you are into several grams a day, sustained, which no capsule delivers and which nobody has tested in people. The handful of human trials that mention raspberry ketone gave it inside multi-ingredient products alongside caffeine and other stimulants, so nothing in them can be attributed to the ketone itself.
That is why this bottle is not in our weight and metabolism collection. 1,000 mg is an honest figure, printed accurately, and it is a substantial amount of the compound. It simply cannot be measured against a human research dose, because there is not one to measure it against.
If you are here because a headline or a video told you raspberry ketone burns fat, we would rather you knew this before you paid than after.
How to take it
Two capsules a day with water. Sixty capsules in the bottle, so one serving a day is 30 days.
Other ingredients
The Supplement Facts panel supplied with this product does not list other ingredients, so the capsule shell is not stated. Gelatin shells are animal-derived and are not suitable for vegetarians or vegans; cellulose shells are. Because the panel is silent on which this is, we cannot tell you this product is suitable for vegetarians or vegans, and we are not going to guess. There is no allergen statement on the panel either. If either point decides the purchase for you, ask us before you order and we will read the bottle.
Cautions
There is very little published human safety data for raspberry ketone at 1,000 mg a day, which follows from how little it has been studied in people at all. No drug interactions are well documented, and that is not the same as a clean record — it mostly reflects the absence of research. It is chemically related to compounds that behave as stimulants, so if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or take stimulant medication, speak to your doctor before taking it. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use if the safety seal is damaged or missing. Store in a cool, dry place. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If you are pregnant, nursing, under 18, taking prescription medication or living with a medical condition, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before starting this or any supplement.
