Cold-pressed. GLA content stated.

Cold-pressed evening primrose oil with the gamma-linolenic acid content on the panel — which is the only number in this product that means anything.

What it's for

Evening primrose oil is taken for its gamma-linolenic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid the body converts into anti-inflammatory signalling molecules. It is most commonly used for cyclical breast tenderness and skin comfort. The evidence is modest and the effect, where present, is slow.

How to take it

  • One softgel daily with food
  • GLA is fat-soluble; take it with a meal
  • Expect to give it two to three months before judging it
  • Mild blood-thinning activity — mention it before surgery, and check first if you take anticoagulants or have a seizure disorder

On the label

  • Cold-pressed, not solvent-extracted
  • GLA content stated, not just total oil weight
  • 120 softgels

What this is not

  • Not a hormone treatment
  • Not solvent-extracted
  • Not always in stock — low-volume supplier

The straight answer

Total oil weight is the number most primrose labels print. GLA is the active. A 1000 mg softgel at 8% GLA and one at 10% are not the same product.
