Osterly Market Lutein 40 mg with Zeaxanthin
40 mg lutein. The dose is on the front, not the blend weight.
A high-dose lutein capsule with zeaxanthin, where the number on the front is the lutein itself.
What it's for
Most trial evidence for lutein sits at 10 to 20 mg a day; 40 mg is above that range. More is not automatically better here — macular pigment response flattens out, and very high intakes can tint the skin slightly (harmless, and it reverses). This one exists for people who want a large dose in a single capsule and know why.
How to take it
- One capsule daily with a meal containing fat
- 40 mg is roughly double the dose used in most trials. If you are starting out, a 10–20 mg product is the better first purchase
- Effects on macular pigment appear over three to six months
- Carotenoids at high intake can give skin a faint yellow-orange cast. It is harmless and it goes away
On the label
- 40 mg lutein stated
- Zeaxanthin named
- 120 capsules
What this is not
- Not a blend weight dressed up as a dose
- Not a treatment for macular degeneration
- Not the right starting dose for most people
The straight answer
40 mg is more than the trials used. We are not going to pretend that makes it better — it makes it bigger. Buy it if you specifically want the high dose.
