Osterly Market Lutein & Zeaxanthin Eye Vitamins
Lutein and zeaxanthin, both dosed.
The two carotenoids that concentrate in the macula, named and numbered, for people who spend the day looking at a screen.
What it's for
Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids that accumulate specifically in the macula, the central part of the retina, where they act as a natural blue-light filter and antioxidant. They are taken to support macular pigment density, which does measurably increase with supplementation. What that means for how well you see is a slower and much smaller story than the marketing suggests.
How to take it
- One capsule daily, with a meal containing some fat
- Both are fat-soluble; taken on an empty stomach much of the dose is wasted
- Macular pigment changes take months, not weeks
- No supplement changes a refractive prescription. Keep up your regular eye exams
On the label
- Lutein and zeaxanthin, each with its own figure
- 120 capsules
- Take with food — both are fat-soluble
What this is not
- Not a vision correction
- Not going to change your prescription
- Not a substitute for an eye exam
The straight answer
You will see this category advertised with 'take off your glasses' before-and-after photos. Nothing in a capsule does that. Lutein is studied for macular pigment density, which is a slower and much less dramatic story.
