Osterly Market Magnesium Glycinate 500 mg
500 mg glycinate compound = about 70 mg elemental magnesium. Both numbers, on the front.
This is the product that explains the whole shop. Magnesium glycinate is roughly fourteen per cent elemental magnesium, so a 500 mg capsule contains about seventy milligrams of the thing you came for. Everyone prints the 500. We print both.
What it's for
Magnesium glycinate is magnesium bound to glycine. It is the form to choose if you want magnesium without the laxative effect that citrate and oxide bring, and the glycine itself is mildly calming. It is taken for muscle relaxation, sleep quality and general repletion — most people eat less magnesium than they need.
How to take it
- One serving daily, evening is the sensible time
- With or without food; either is fine with glycinate
- Two to four weeks before you would expect to notice anything
- Keep it two hours apart from antibiotics and thyroid medication. Talk to a doctor first if you have reduced kidney function
On the label
- 500 mg magnesium glycinate compound
- About 70 mg elemental magnesium
- Glycinate form — gentlest on the stomach
- 120 capsules
What this is not
- Not the biggest number on the shelf, on purpose
- Not citrate or oxide
- Not a sleep aid, though evening suits it
The straight answer
Go and look at any competing magnesium glycinate listing. If the front of the label shows a number in the hundreds and you cannot find a smaller one anywhere, the smaller one is roughly a seventh of what you are reading. That is the entire reason this shop exists.
