What it's for

This is the broad-coverage version of the category. Saw palmetto is the headline and the weakest link — the largest trials found it no better than placebo. Pumpkin seed has a couple of small positive trials. Lycopene and selenium are here as antioxidants that concentrate in prostate tissue; the large SELECT trial of selenium and vitamin E for prostate cancer prevention was stopped early and found no benefit, with a signal of possible harm from vitamin E. Zinc is a genuine requirement for normal reproductive function.

How to take it

• Follow the label serving, with food
• Do not stack it with a separate zinc or selenium supplement. Both accumulate, and selenium in particular has a narrow window between enough and too much
• Give it two to three months
• Saw palmetto thins the blood slightly. Mention it before surgery or if you take an anticoagulant
• Symptoms need a doctor, not a shelf. Difficulty urinating, frequent night-time trips, a weak stream or any blood need proper assessment — usually a benign enlargement, sometimes not

The straight answer

Six ingredients at 500 mg total means small amounts of each. The most useful thing on this label is the zinc, and the most oversold is the saw palmetto. If you want the sterol with the better evidence, our Prostate Complex has beta-sitosterol in it and this one does not.
