Osterly Market Vitamin D3 5000 IU with K2 MK-7 200 mcg
5000 IU D3. 200 mcg K2 as MK-7.
Both doses and the K2 form, all three on the front, because MK-4 and MK-7 are not interchangeable and the difference is worth money.
What it's for
Vitamin D3 regulates calcium absorption and immune function, and most people in northern latitudes run low through winter. Vitamin K2 directs calcium into bone rather than soft tissue. They are paired because raising D without K may put more calcium into circulation than you want, and MK-7 is the longer-lasting of the two K2 forms.
How to take it
- One capsule daily with the largest meal of the day
- Both are fat-soluble and absorption drops sharply without food
- 5000 IU is a maintenance dose for someone who is low. If you do not know your level, a blood test is worth more than a guess
- The adult tolerable upper intake level is 4000 IU a day. This is above it, which is deliberate for correcting a deficiency and not a dose to take indefinitely without testing
- K2 interacts with warfarin. Do not take this without talking to your prescriber if you are on it
On the label
- 5000 IU vitamin D3
- 200 mcg vitamin K2 as MK-7
- MK-7 form specified
- 120 capsules
What this is not
- Not MK-4
- Not vegan — D3 here is lanolin-derived
- Not to be taken without food
The straight answer
K2 appears on a lot of D3 labels without a form. MK-7 has a far longer half-life than MK-4 and costs more, which is exactly why the vague ones stay vague.
