Osterly Market Amla — Indian Gooseberry
Standardised amla extract. One fruit.
Amla fruit extract, standardised, single ingredient — a traditional Ayurvedic tonic without a modern claim bolted onto it.
What it's for
Amla, or Indian gooseberry, is one of the most-used fruits in Ayurvedic practice, traditionally taken as a daily rasayana — a rejuvenating tonic. It is very high in vitamin C and polyphenols. Modern research is mostly small trials on lipid and antioxidant markers, promising but not conclusive.
How to take it
- One capsule daily with food
- No specific timing
- Traditionally taken continuously rather than in courses
- May have a mild blood-thinning effect; mention it before surgery
On the label
- Standardised amla extract
- Single fruit, named
- 120 capsules
What this is not
- Not a vitamin C supplement, though amla contains it
- Not standardised to vitamin C content — the figure varies by harvest
- Not a blend
The straight answer
Amla is often marketed on its vitamin C content, but that varies a great deal between harvests. If you want a known vitamin C dose, buy vitamin C.
