Osterly Market Psyllium Husk
Psyllium husk. A fibre, sold as a fibre.
Whole psyllium husk in capsules, with none of the cleanse language that usually comes attached to it.
What it's for
Psyllium is a soluble fibre from the husk of Plantago ovata seeds. In water it forms a gel, which adds bulk and softens stool. It is one of the few supplement ingredients with genuinely solid evidence — for regularity, for stool consistency in both directions, and for a modest effect on cholesterol as an accepted health claim in several countries.
How to take it
- Follow the label serving, always with a full large glass of water
- Start with a smaller amount and build up over a week or two — going straight to a full dose causes bloating
- Take it at least two hours apart from any medication; fibre slows absorption of a lot of things
- Effects on regularity usually show within a few days
On the label
- Single-ingredient psyllium husk
- Non-GMO, gluten-free
- 120 capsules
What this is not
- Not a detox
- Not a laxative in the stimulant sense
- Not effective without water
The straight answer
Psyllium works by absorbing water and adding bulk. Taken without a full glass of water it can do the opposite of what you wanted. That is not a disclaimer, it is the instruction.
