Osterly Market Saffron & Ashwagandha Blend — 4000 mg Serving
4000 mg is the serving. It is not the saffron.
A four-botanical blend — saffron, glucomannan, ashwagandha and green tea extract — sold at 4000 mg per serving, which is the total and not any one ingredient.
What it's for
Each of the four has its own small literature. Saffron has a handful of trials on mood and appetite. Glucomannan is a soluble fibre that swells with water and has modest evidence for fullness. Ashwagandha is the best-studied of the group, mostly for stress markers. Green tea extract carries caffeine and catechins. Put together in one capsule at an undisclosed split, none of them is necessarily at a dose that did anything in a trial.
How to take it
- One capsule daily with water and food
- Glucomannan needs a full glass of water. Taken dry it can swell in the throat — this is the one real hazard in the bottle
- Contains green tea extract, so there is caffeine. Not one for the evening
- Green tea extract at high doses has been associated with liver injury in rare cases. Stop and see a doctor if you get dark urine or yellowing skin
On the label
- 4000 mg blend per serving
- Saffron, glucomannan, ashwagandha, green tea extract
- 30 capsules
What this is not
- Not four separate doses — one blend figure
- Not a weight-loss product
- Not caffeine-free
The straight answer
A 4000 mg blend tells you the size of the scoop, not what is in it. If any one of these four is what you actually want, buy that one on its own and you will know what you are taking.
